Holter monitoring, a specialized diagnostic procedure used to continuously monitor and record the electrical activity of the heart over an extended period, typically 24 to 48 hours or sometimes even longer. It provides a detailed record of one’s heart-rhythm and can help diagnose various heart conditions, that may not be captured during a standard ECG.

During a Holter monitoring session, the patient wears a portable device called a Holter monitor, which is connected to electrodes placed on the chest. The monitor records the heart's electrical signals (ECG) continuously while the patient goes about their daily activities, including sleep and exercise.

Holter monitoring is particularly useful in diagnosing arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), assessing symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, or fainting episodes that may occur sporadically, and evaluating the effectiveness of cardiac medications or treatments.
