Electrocardiography (ECG)

Electrocardiography (ECG)

Electrocardiography (ECG) services, a fundamental diagnostic tool used to assess the electrical activity of the heart. ECG is a non-invasive procedure that helps to evaluate the heart's rhythm, detect abnormalities, and diagnose various cardiac conditions.

During an ECG, electrodes are placed on the patient's chest, arms, and legs to detect and record the electrical impulses generated by the heart as it beats. These impulses are then displayed as waves on a monitor or printed onto paper for interpretation by our expert physician or cardiologists.

ECG testing is crucial for diagnosing conditions such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart valve problems, and other cardiac abnormalities. It provides valuable insights into the overall health and function of the heart, guiding medical decisions and treatment plans.

There are various types of ECGs:

Resting ECG: Done while one is lying down and relaxed, usually in a medical office.

Holter Monitor: A portable ECG device worn for 24-48 hours to monitor heart activity over an extended period.

Event Recorder: Similar to a Holter monitor, but used for a longer period (weeks to months) and activated by the patient when symptoms occur.

Stress Test ECG: Performed while one is exercising on a treadmill or stationary bike to evaluate how your heart performs under stress.
